Democracy Identity Crisis

Democracy has a brand problem

A disturbed man with a American flag on the wall

Firstly, Kamala didn’t lose; democracy did. Kamala did a fantastic job and could not have done any better. Her only fault was being a woman of color, and America was not ready for that. Even though she harvested endorsements from larger-than-life stars like Taylor Swift and Beyonce, she enjoyed generous help from the other side of the aisle, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liz Chainey, and Adam Kinzenger. Nothing could have saved democracy from its most sacred act—the vote. What happened?

Nothing hurts more than thinking we are the only ones who are right, only to find out we are the only ones who are wrong. Times have changed.

Democrats campaigned as the party of the future but became the party of the past—the old-fashioned, pro-establishment party of billionaires. That's gotta hurt. "They act like college-educated rich people who get high-paying jobs while talking highfalutin words no one can understand other than their echo chamber of snobs." This did not go well with the working man.

Americans voted to end democracy because they barely know what a democracy is. Why is there plenty of money to fund wars halfway across the globe, but the people struggle to survive with two miserable jobs? Why are they financing the massacre of Palestinians? No one is stupid; people see plenty of wealth but none for them.

Do you know one thing that didn't go well for Dems? To call MAGAs dumbasses and at the same time preach egalitarian values, as "we are the party of inclusion." That was bad. Remember the basket of deplorable? Hillary made the same mistake. It is not that they are not dumbasses; is more because they are dumbasses. You just don't get into a gunfight with a knife.

Get over. At this point, there is no democracy and no rule of law, as evidenced by the election of a convicted criminal. If Democrats want to win, they have to play smart.

Perhaps Kamala's biggest mistake was declining Joe Hogan's interview. I'm just trying to figure out what went wrong because we all find it inconceivable that Americans chose to elect an insane person instead of a bona fide politician. There is obviously a deeper and more insidious problem with our democracy.

There is something wrong with the Democratic Party's brand. People don't even know what a democracy is supposed to be. Most people don't understand that a democracy is supposed to serve everyone. We pay our taxes, and the government protects us. Under democracy, we should have securities like health care, free education, job protections, and maternity leave.

But this is not a brand or marketing problem. The problem is that democracy in America does not offer any of these things to its people, and the word democracy does not mean anything. Working people perceive Washington as a far-removed island of privilege, a place where they have nothing in common.

Enter Donald, the numero uno world-class scammer who understands how to manipulate the hearts and minds of regular people and appeals to their lowest common denominator instincts. He is smart enough to know he should not appear too smart to his voters. The world-class peddler convinced everyone to vote against their own interests just to satisfy their thirst for insanity. This is the power of his brand.

Latinos voted to deport themselves; blacks voted for white supremacy; and the poor voted to reduce their salaries, pay more taxes, and send money to billionaires. The guy is an evil genius; I give him that.

Democrats are scratching their heads because there is nothing better to do at this point. The harm has been done: years of neglect and cozying up to lobbyists and corporative power, for-profit health care, and years of bleeding our great public services. The writing was on the wall, but it would take a long time to affect damage. But now we’re there as we watch it unfold right before our eyes.

Bernie Sanders was the best chance Democrats ever had to reverse the situation we find ourselves in now, but Bernie did not have the support he needed because billionaires were afraid of what could have happened. I wonder if they are afraid of what will happen now. Democrats have to become the party of the anti-establishment. And they might have another chance soon.

Because the Trump administration is similar to a jet flying at 40K feet, the passengers demand that the crew exit the cockpit and pass the command to a new crew composed of angry and crazy monkeys with zero experience flying or landing the plane. What could possibly go wrong?

Trump assembles his wreaking crew as you read this. The dream team is designed to completely obliterate the departments they are intended to lead. It is not that his picks are unqualified to serve, they are anti-qualified. Each possesses incendiary skills that will make everything fail. There will be serious consequences.

It's too bad we have to go to hell. But they say before we go to heaven, we first need to go to hell. So this is our rightful destination. We are about to break the political machine of the status quo with nothing to replace it. Americans no longer need to be bored, it will be plenty of fun. Maybe we finally understand the power of the vote. Good luck to us all.
